Step Three - Customizing the Type of Your Tournament
Once the basic information has been established, the type of tournament can be decided. For example:
- In most charity tournaments, players pay a fee to play. In these cases, the organizers would select this option and the system would automatically setup a "Sign up " area where potential players would go, input their name or names, input their credit card details if required and sign up. The organizers would then simply market the web address to potential players so they could sign up manually or over the Internet, where additional information would also be provided. This not only streamlines the process and creates a very professionally run tournament from the start, but also provides significant exposure for sponsors.
- In most corporate tournaments, players are invited to play and the companies pick up the costs. In these cases, if the names of all participants are known, the organizers can input the names of the potential players or they can upload a list of names from a third party application. These players will then automatically be sent an email invitation. This would invite them to play in the tournament and include a link to the actual private tournament area on the Internet. These potential players would then login to this private area and accept or decline the invitation.
